CORONA : INTRODUCTION , SYMPTOMS AND PRECAUTIONS


WHAT IS CORONA ?
        ·     Basically , Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that can be mild , such as cases of common cold  and others that can be lethal , such as SARS, MERS , and COVID -19  

            ·     The coronavirus outbreak came to light when on December 31, 2019, China informed the World Health Information of a cluster of cases of pneumonia of an unknown cause in Wuhan City in Hubei province. Subsequently the disease spread to more provinces of China and to the rest of the world. The WHO has now declared it a pandemic. The virus has names as COVID- 19.

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms vary from person-to-person with COVID-19 . It may produce few or no symptoms. However, it can also lead to severe illness and may be fatal. Common symptoms include :
·     Fewer
·     Breathlessness
·     Cough
·     Potential loss of taste or smell
  
It may take 2-14 days for a person to notice symptoms after infection.

NO VACCINE is currently available for COVID-19 . However, scientists have now replicated the virus . This could allow for early detection and treatment in people who have the virus but are not yet showing the symptoms.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) suggest that several groups of people have the highest risk of developing complications due to COVID-19 . These groups include:
  • Young Children
  • People aged 65 or older 
  • women who are pregnant
                 PREVENTION             
     There are 5 things that must be followed to stop coronavirus
                         
1.  HANDS Wash them often
2.  ELBOW Cough into it
3.  FACE Don’t touch it
4.  SPACE Keep safe distance
5.  HOME Stay at your home


You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you :
 Do
·  Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds , with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
· Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze
· Avoid close contact ( 1 meter or 3 meter ) with people who are unwell
· Stay home and self isolate from others in household if you feel unwell

Don’t
·Touch your eyes , nose , or mouth if your hands are not clean
